I love All the HaTe!!

Thanks everybody for writing in about the comp! Its always good to hear different peoples opinions and i like to see that not as many people are Dane lovers as i thought. Still think hes the man over Jordy, although Jordy has proven to be more well rounded obviously. I guess i just feel like Dane is the only guy who stands up on a wave and has absolutely no game plan on what hes going to do? Its so spontaneous and unpredictable, and he puts so much torque and tweak in his turns, i think saying he has no power in his surfing isn't fair, he just mixes it up more than anybody else- power carve, tweaked cutback, tail toss, reverse air, he does all of it with complete disregard for the outcome of the heat or concern for what the judges are looking for. We all know pro contest surfing in general is pretty stale and other than the Andy Kelly battles we had in early 2000 the ASP has sucked ass the last couple years. Like one of the comments said "these two guys are the future of pro surfing" and if thats the case, the future looks bright.

What he said! Yep, he's drawing totally unpredictable lines---it's just a different/new/unique approach to the wave that's lost on most top pros. Similar to the impact of when Curren (and then Slater) first arrived on the scene---game changing stuff for sure. Nice coverage of the contest too Garrett. FYI I'm formerly Donald---got to use a nickname---all the cool kids are doing it.
