Hoss feeds the dingo's!!

Sunrise team rider Adam Mcgill sent me a couple good photos from his recent jaunt down to PR. As anybody with a computer/noah/weather channel knows, PR has been firing all winter- crystal clear water and chunky surf. Gonna try and get those posted tonite, but with the landshark deal and work all day 2mrw, might not be till Fri before i do it. Get it done Hoss!! haha

Quik burgers and dogs!

Quiksilver will be at the shop today at 2 pm. As far as i know they are not bringing any team riders, its just some of the big wig exec's and all the reps i think? Anyways they will be BBQing some grub and passing out free schwag. Don't know about you, but free food and free giveaways? what more could you possibly ask for? Maybe more free giveaways and some cocktails? Done. Be at Landshark at 10pm and the crew will be giving out more stuff and dumping some delicious adult beverages down your pie yapper! Don't be scared, come tell the corpos at quiky to make your burger medium rare!!

I love All the HaTe!!

Thanks everybody for writing in about the comp! Its always good to hear different peoples opinions and i like to see that not as many people are Dane lovers as i thought. Still think hes the man over Jordy, although Jordy has proven to be more well rounded obviously. I guess i just feel like Dane is the only guy who stands up on a wave and has absolutely no game plan on what hes going to do? Its so spontaneous and unpredictable, and he puts so much torque and tweak in his turns, i think saying he has no power in his surfing isn't fair, he just mixes it up more than anybody else- power carve, tweaked cutback, tail toss, reverse air, he does all of it with complete disregard for the outcome of the heat or concern for what the judges are looking for. We all know pro contest surfing in general is pretty stale and other than the Andy Kelly battles we had in early 2000 the ASP has sucked ass the last couple years. Like one of the comments said "these two guys are the future of pro surfing" and if thats the case, the future looks bright.

Better late than never

I'm sure everybody in web world already knows all about it, but Taj Burrow won the first contest of the 2010 ASP world tour. Dane Reynolds lost interest in his semifinal #2 heat, leading everyone who was glued to the screen to lose interest as well . Dane is becoming the Tiger of surfing, everybody else is just downright boring to watch compared to him.

The Beast is Awake! and his friend seems kinda interested too....

If you people out there haven't been watching the quik pro you are missing out!! Its the first time in a long time that an ASP event is hang on to the edge of your seat exciting like this one is. Jordy and Dane have put on a clinic throughout the whole event. Smith managed to throw Slater off his game with ease in round three or four, and Dane has pretty much toasted everyone he has come up against. Working ten hour shifts Wed and today, but im telling you, don't listen to my mindless dribble and take my word for it, go to the site and watch all the heats on demand for yourself. Jordy and Dane are surfing against each other tonight in Semifinal #2 which means one of the two is going to be in the final of the first event of the year. I have a feeling this is going to be the best year we have seen in a while! go to the link and watch it fools!!

Round 3 is en fuego mate!!!!!

round 3 of the quik pro is on and the waves are firing!! Just got off a busy shift at the Lu's to turn on the webcast and see Snapper looking, square, foamy and destroyable! My pick for king heinous, Bede Durbidge, just made me eat my words posting a 19.40 out of 20? Luckily i didn't have to watch him surf the heat but the results speak for themselves= i don't know sh*t.
As far as best heat of round 2 i'm going with Jordy Smith. I want to say Dane because he surfs with his heart, but Jordy did get 3 barrels on one wave in his heat (not to mention he is 6'2 and the last barrel of the wave was on a two foot section?? can you say yoga) Slater is about to go out and i'm telling you round three so far is silly. If you can, even if you don't surf, watch it....

I heart DANE/// Jordy eats Marco for breakfast

They squeaked out a couple of heats from round 2 yesterday and let me tell you boy.... I think this might be Jordys year to fill in his competitive shoes and live up to the hype. He demolished Marco Polo---who i still claim has no biz being on tour--- all the while surfing snapper brilliantly! Perfect wave selection, which is Jordys notorious achilles heal, well rounded surfing throughout the heat; barrells, carves, airs and lip bashes. Very exciting heat to watch. The only heat that excited me more is Danes. He has found a way to completely disconnect when he is in a heat. He surfs in the moment, does what is best for the wave with complete disregard for the judges and what they think. The ironic thing is thats what the judges love! thats what they are looking for, his surfing is so unpredictable, spontaneous and reckless that when he rides a wave everybody is gripping the edge of their seat waiting to see what happens next. go to the link from the last blog and watch heats 5 and 6 from the second round, its worth it

" He ain't dead yet", Best heat of round 1 Quik Pro

Slater showed everybody that hes definitely considering rounding off that world title collection to an even number 10 this year. First heat of the first comp and Jimmy Slade went apeshart, doing his usual heat dominating routine that allowed him to smoke everybody throughout the late nineties. Its is worth mentioning that his opponents were Benn Dunn and Marco Polo. Dunn is a young, lanky ripper who seems to have gone stale the last year or two but still rips. Marco Polo on the other hand looked like he could easily get put out in the early rounds of a FL Esa contest. Slater posted the highest heat total of round one and definitely looked more in form than anybody else. Go to the link below and then find heat # 5, i'd also recommend checking Fannings heat, it was low tide and draining by then and Micktory gets a sick pit in his heat.

micro surf and reminiscing :-)

Theres been little waves the last couple days? Surfed on Tue at the pier, about waist high, sectiony and overall pretty uneventful, but fun. Worth a check at high tide if you can get out there. Was checking all the local reports earlier and came across some photos from this day last year. Eddie P dug into his archives and pulled up shots of Sunrise team rider Mallory Turner and local ripper in tight pants Austin Allen, haha- luv ya Austin ( i believe they were on a surf date)-- Anyways it looks pretty cold to me, not as bad as this year, not as warm as i remembered it There is also a bunch of other cool photos from local jax surfers who are traveling, soaking up sun, and living the life. It helps spice things up considering the photos of the surf here have looked exactly the same for three weeks-- Go look at the site, entertaining and also good for wave checks- Eddie always goes to the poles and nj's when its good up there heres the link       www.911surfreport.com
